Mineral Point - Nancy Ann Rounds Gorder, age 70 of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Nancy entered her heavenly home from Saint Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin after a very short illness. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Steve, and her good friends, Pastor Bob Lee and his wife Debi.
Nancy was born October 12, 1954 in Waupun, Wisconsin to Leslie and Hilda Luck Rounds. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1973 where she was very active in anything musically related. She enjoyed singing, playing the clarinet, playing her guitar and especially her piano. She was a summer lifeguard for many years in Waupun.
Nancy came to Mineral Point for her first teaching job straight out of college in 1977 and never left. While teaching, Nancy received her Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Music Education. In her early years in Mineral Point not only did she teach Elementary and Middle School Music, but she also coached volleyball, girls basketball and softball. She was actively involved in the Shakerag Players musical productions. Nancy retired from full-time teaching in the Mineral Point Elementary School after 34 years. She continued teaching as a regular substitute for many years.
Nancy met her husband Steve Gorder at a weekly Al Bauman Bible Study. The two were married on October 1, 1988. Together they became very active in the Christian Motorcyclists Association. They traveled all over the United States on their Honda Goldwing motorcycle with their pop-up camper in tow. They enjoyed traveling and camping while visiting many National Parks. They also attended many Christian and Non-Christian motorcycle rallies. Through the Christian Motorcyclists Association in partnership with Missionary Ventures International, Nancy and Steve participated in 17 international mission trips, taking them all over the world, presenting motorcycles, bicycles and even a boat to local pastors and church leaders. It was Nancy and Steve's passion to serve the Lord and to share the love of Jesus wherever they went. Nancy and Steve have been serving as Wisconsin Area Reps for the Christian Motorcyclists Association since 2003, thus giving them an opportunity to serve and provide leadership to the members and chapters in Wisconsin. Nancy was the Wisconsin CMA State Run for the Son Lead. She would spend hours encouraging and supporting the local chapter Run for the Son Leads in raising money for world missions.
For the past five years, Nancy and Steve have been spending the winters in Puerto Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico. Nancy has made many friends in her weekly Bible Study group, her yoga group, her pickleball group as well as the local condo group. She was greatly loved wherever she went and by whoever she met. Nancy was an active member of Life Church in Mount Horeb. She spent many hours every week studying and preparing to lead a Women's Zoom Bible Study Life Group. She always enjoyed connecting with her ladies via Zoom every week. During the week, she would message and email the group with reminders and encouragement. Nancy and Steve were faithful to attend Life Church every Sunday and Wednesday evening unless they were ministering somewhere else. It was a very important part of her life.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Steve of 36 years, her sister Mary (Jerry) Martinson of Waukesha, WI, her brother-in-law Dick (Cindy) Gorder of Mineral Point, her Sister-in-law Marjie Hughes of Salt Lake City, UT, her sister-in-law Linda (Dale) Emshoff, Rochelle, IL and her father-in-law Jack Gorder of Mineral Point, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews all of which had a very special place in her heart. She would pray for them every day. She's also survived by many friends, locally, across the United States and around the world.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Hilda Rounds, her mother-in-law, Diane Gorder, her brother-in-law, David Hughes and her infant brother, Robert.
A Celebration of Nancy's Life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Life Church - 2770 Brandywein Trail, Mount Horeb, WI 53572. Pastor Bob Lee will officiate. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Gorgen Funeral Home in Mineral Point and on Friday from 9:30 AM until 10:55 AM at the Life Church.
