MILLBURY - Nancy Evelyn (Johnson) Hagstrom, 92, passed away on July 5, 2024 at CareOne in Millbury. Born on a leap day in 1932 Worcester, Nancy resided in Millbury after her marriage.
Nancy graduated from Worcester Commerce High School in 1950 and married Richard in 1953. She was a longtime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and participated in the LCW and the church choir for over 50 years. Nancy also enjoyed visiting residents and serving coffee at the Lutheran Home with fellow lady church members. Church was always her sanctuary and music connected her to spirit since she was a young girl. She was an avid seamstress and an excellent cook. Family meant everything to Nancy and she loved going to Falmouth weekend with “The Girls” in her family. Nancy was fondly called “Fancy Nancy” by staff and friends at CareOne for her love of clothes and going to the hairdresser. Her compassion, grace, and sense of humor endeared her to family and friends. She was always kind-hearted and had empathy and love towards everyone.
Nancy was preceded in death by Richard, her husband of 69 years and her son David Hagstrom; her parents, Oscar and Agnes Johnson; her siblings, Anna, Olaf, Ingie, Runo, Lil and Barbara. She leaves behind her daughter Karen and her husband Michael Gurnick of Ashland; her son Paul and his wife Janet (Lagerholm) Hagstrom of Charlton; her daughter Linda and her husband David Woisard of Warwick, R.I.; her daughter Lisa Jacobs of Millbury; her grandchildren Amanda (Hagstrom) Poletta and her husband Joseph, Paul Michael Hagstrom and Justin Jacobs; her great-grandchildren Joseph, Jace and Julian Poletta. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Visiting Hours will be held Thursday, July 11th 5 to 7pm in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday July 12th at 11:00am at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood Street, Worcester immediately followed by burial at West Millbury Cemetery 15-1, S Oxford Rd, Millbury, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood Street, Worcester, MA 01607
