Nancy Hanacek Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waite Funeral Home Brunswick on Dec. 16, 2023.
Nancy Hanacek, age 72, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. She was born October 13, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio to Laddie and Mary (nee Yomnick) Svoboda. Nancy retired after 37 years as a Law Librarian at CSU. She enjoyed spending the winters in southwest Florida, traveling, vacationing, and taking cruises. Nancy and her family operated the Old-Fashioned Candy Store and Smokin' Johns Café as vendors at local county fairs and festivals. Above all, Nancy loved spending time with her family. She was kindhearted and enjoyed meeting new people. Nancy was an amazing person and helped so many people. She had a beautiful soul and was so outgoing. Nancy always found happiness even in the saddest situations.
Left to celebrate Nancy's life is her beloved husband of 51 years, John Hanacek; her loving children, Dawn (Mark) Bockwich and Jill Hanacek(Andrew); her cherished grandchildren, Hope, Bret, Izzy and Colson; her sister, Karen Prospal; and many extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her sister, Janice Kanserski and her parents.
Family will welcome friends from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Waite & Son Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Rd. in Brunswick, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, with 1-hour prior visitation, on Friday, December 22nd at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Rd. in Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Nancy's memory to St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family on Nancy's guestbook at www.WaiteFuneralHome.com.
