Nancy Elizabeth Howell of Orange Park, Florida passed away on August 18, 2025.

She was born September 18, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA to Ralph and Elmira Long. Nancy moved to Florida at the age of two with her family, ultimately settling in Tarpon Springs. She graduated from Tarpon Springs High School and also attended Greek school, where she learned to speak Greek.

She was married to Ralph Wiley Howell from 1974 until his passing in 2002. Nancy worked for Publix for 16 years.

In addition to her husband Ralph Howell, she was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Lloyd Thompson as well as her son-in-law Robert D. Williams.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Shannon Williams of Orange Park, Florida, stepson Roscoe Howell and his wife Tina Howell of Wetumpka, Alabama, granddaughter Alisa Jacobs and her husband John Jacobs and great-grandsons Matthew and Daniel, all of Saint Johns, Florida.

Nancy made the best fried grouper ever, loved country music (including a small crush on Alan Jackson), watching Blue Bloods with her grandsons, doting on the dogs in her life and having a glass of red wine. She'll be remembered as a beloved mom, Granny, and Great Granny.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 23 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens with private interment to follow at Bushnell National Cemetery.

I have so many sweet memories of Aunt Nancy. Growing up I remember her delicious cooking. She taught me how to cook a holiday turkey in a paper bag, and it was always the best at her house. Her sweet smile always warms my heart when I think of her. How I'll miss our little chats in these later years. Heaven is sweater knowing I'll see her again.
