Nancy Lee Burton Lear, 79, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away surrounded by loved ones in her home on October 5th, 2025 of natural causes. She was born June 25th, 1946 in Pocatello, Idaho to Elmer Gene Burton and Eleene Sina Rogers. She graduated from Highland High School before attending Ricks College. After serving in the New England Mission, she would go on to receive her Associates Degree from BYU in May of 1970.
She married Darrell Wynn Lear, III on June 3rd, 1970 and loved holding his hand to the very end. She worked in childcare, education, and other jobs before retiring after 20 years at Melaleuca. After growing up in Pocatello, Idaho and marrying in Idaho Falls, Idaho, she lived with her husband and children in Provo, Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, Musselshell, Montana, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Ucon, Idaho, and Rigby, Idaho.
She served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints in areas of Scouting, Primary, Relief Society and Sunday School. Her family history calling brought her great joy. She loved singing in the choir, puzzles, reading and supporting her family in all their various activities.
She was preceded in death by Elmer “Gene” Burton (Father), Eleene Sina Rogers (Mother), Milo Thomas Gruwell (step father), Janiece “Jan” Gruwell (step sister), Aidan Joshua Lear (grandson) and Clayton Dominic Lear (grandson).
Nancy is survived by her husband, Darrell Wynn Lear III, and children Rosaleen “Rosie” (Victor) Wimmer, Darrell “Wynn” (Amy) Lear, Lincoln Kieth (Rachel) Lear, Jason Clarke (Heather) Lear, Gary Spencer (Youn) Lear, DeeDee (Sean) Quigg, 23 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way, sisters0; Kay Loula (Merlin) Carter, Anne Marie (Garth) Oborn, Paula Jean (Jay) Ricks, Step- sisters Jeananne (Gruwell) Hornbarger, Lynda (Steven) Cook, Brothers David Gene (Kendra) Burton, Douglas Rogers (Tracy) Burton, Glen Allen Burton, and step-brother Thomas (Jan) Gruwell Jr.
Services will be held Thursday, October 9th, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Holbrooke Stake Center with Bishop Bradley Wells officiating. The family will visit with friends and family prior to services from 9:30am to 10:45am at Holbrooke Stake Center, 196 N 4000 E, Rigby, Idaho. Interment at Pioneer Cemetery.
