Nancy Murray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home - Oberlin on Jan. 8, 2026.
Nancy Ann Murray, age 77, passed away on January 6, 2026 in Oberlin, KS. Nancy was born on February 24, 1948 to Gerald Pokorny and Lucille Adams Pokorny in Columbus, NE.
Nancy was raised in Schuyler, Nebraska. On January 22, 1964, she married David Lee Murray Sr., and together they built a loving family and shared many years of life. They were blessed with three children: David, Kimberly, and Gina.
In 1983, Nancy earned her Nebraska Certified Nursing Assistant certificate and dedicated herself to caring for others. She worked for several years in nursing homes in Bertrand and Elwood, Nebraska, where she was known for her compassion and strong work ethic. Later, Nancy and her family moved to Gem, Kansas, where she continued her calling by obtaining her Kansas Certified Nursing Assistant certificate. She went on to work in Colby, Kansas, for several years before later residing in Decatur County.
Nancy cherished spending time with her family and found great joy in fishing and cooking for those she loved. She also had a fondness for bingo and casinos, activities she truly enjoyed. Holidays held a special place in her heart, especially when the entire family was together; those moments meant the world to her. She never passed up an opportunity to play cards or board games, whether it was for the joy of spending time with others or sneaking in a move that worked to her advantage.
Survivors include her son: David Lee Murray Jr. (Nikki) of Oberlin, Kansas; and her daughters: Kimberly Ann Bieker (Gerald) of Mound City, Kansas and Gina Lynn Olmstead (Troy) of Overton, Nebraska.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah Frenier (Jeremy), Cindy Hatesohl (Derek), Zachary Olmstead (Katrina), Jacob Olmstead (Jenna), Demi Kort (Riley), Mallory Olmstead, and Morgan Olmstead (Kate Zelfer), Jessica (Casey) Thurston, Sarah (Koal) Artzer; and by her great-grandchildren: Haylie, Charlie, Gavyn, Paetyn, Ashlyn, Braelyn, Atlas, Kayden, Paityn, Owen, Macie, Whitlee, Layla, Lennyn, Rowdy, Racelynn, Jett, Fynn, Henry, and Aidan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Murray Sr.; her brothers: Robert Pokorny and Jim Pokorny; her sisters: Virginia Connelly and Geraldine Dean; and her sisters-in-law: Dorothy Murray, Arlene Marie Serrano, and Shirley Ideus.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home in Oberlin, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in the Oberlin Cemetery at a later date.
