AMITY - Nancy Lynn (Keating) Tarbell, age 69, died after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 11, 1954, in Charlottetown, PEI.
She is predeceased by her loving parents Ernest Noble Keating and Lorna Maud Taker. Nancy is also predeceased by first husband of over 25 years, Joseph Jean Andre Lacombe, where they lived in NH with their 3 girls.
Nancy is survived by her younger brother David Alan Keating (Virginia), where they lived in Les Iles - de - la Madeleine, QC. Nancy is survived by her three daughters: Tina Lynn Flaherty (Michael), Victoria Andree Lacombe Colley (Roland), and Celeste Angele Lacombe Nelson (Porter), 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews and their children. A special acknowledgement to cousin and best friend Ruth (Arnaud) Thibodeau.
Nancy is also survived by her loving husband George Edward Tarbell Sr. Together they enjoyed a hobby farm in northern Maine for the last 20 years. Nancy & George had a special connection to animals, they cared for their dogs and cats. They enjoyed raising chickens, goats, horses and gardening. They loved the solitude of the trees and nature.
In her younger years, you could often find Nancy dancing, singing, and playing the spoons to country or zydeco music. She had an infectious smile and "joie de vivre". She could be found driving her Cadillac on long road trips or to the beach to watch a sunset or sunrise. She loved smelling the salt air, which reminded her of her childhood home, family, and friends.
Nancy was a legendary neighborhood mom to all the kids. Her home was their home. She was full of life lessons, a big heart, queen of casseroles, and giving guidance. Nancy was a highly intelligent woman, who worked in administration and bookkeeping. She was no stranger to hard work and could be found working construction alongside Andre. She could be found in church on Sunday, and smoking a menthol cigarette on Monday. Nancy would always speak her truth without mincing words. She wore her red hair as a warning and said her white strands were earned. Also known as Grandma Red.
Nancy was a devoted wife and daughter. Nancy's whole heart was interwoven with family and friends. Nothing gave her more joy than watching the growth and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Nancy has left a legacy of fearlessness, surety, compassion, and tenderness. She lived every moment of her life on her terms.
We acknowledge special friends Simone, Loretta, Lorraine, Kelly, Heidi, and many more. Thank you to Aroostook Home Health Services, Northern Light Hospice, Aroostook House of Comfort, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
