Nancy Ann Wormwood, 76, of Lowell, passed away peacefully at Boston Medical Center on May 23, 2025 after a brief illness. Her beloved husband Michael was by her side. Nancy and Michael shared 30 years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. A lifelong resident of Lowell, Nancy was the daughter of William F. Erwin and Helen M. (Barlow) Erwin. She graduated from Lowell High School in 1966, where she was a proud Girl Officer, and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education with a minor in art from Lowell State College. Art was a passion she carried throughout her life. Nancy dedicated 42 years to Sears, rising to department manager and earning the respect and admiration of colleagues across generations. After retiring in 2010, she poured her heart into painting, quickly becoming a vibrant force in Lowell's art community. Her innovative works found homes in galleries and private collections across the region and the country. Nancy's talent was widely recognized: she won "Best in Show" at The Brush Art Gallery and Studios for "Bartlet Autumn," received "People's Choice" at the Arts League of Lowell for "Dancing Birches," and was featured in ArtScope Magazine for "Sweet Lydia's." Her art continues to brighten spaces throughout the country. Active in the Brush Art Gallery and Studios, the Arts League of Lowell, and the Whistler House Museum of Art, Nancy found inspiration and lifelong friendships among fellow artists. She also gave back by volunteering as an art teacher in a regional elder art program, encouraging others to discover their own creativity. Nancy and Mike's home was always open, known for their legendary pie parties, festive holiday gatherings, and cozy movie nights-moments that brought friends and family together and created lasting memories. Nancy will be remembered for her creativity, warmth, quick wit, and the joy she brought to every room. Her legacy lives on in her art, her friendships, and the love she shared with all who knew her. There be no wake or service. A Celebration of Life for Nancy will be held on a later date.
