Natalia Marcella Barkley, 92, of Wheeler, Texas, formerly of Groom, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Wheeler.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at St. Mary's Cemetery in Groom, Texas, with Fr. Raj Malapady officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon, Texas.
Mrs. Barkley was born on August 12, 1933, in Gray County, Texas, to Edward George and Catherine Delores Britten Weller. She married R.E. Barkley on August 12, 1953, in Raton, New Mexico. Natalia grew up in Groom, where she graduated from Groom High School and spent most of her life. She was also a longtime resident of Milo Center before moving to Wheeler a few years ago.
A devoted homemaker, Natalia was known for her talent as a seamstress and her love of sewing and baking. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending time with friends. Above all, she cherished her family and found her greatest joy in time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Groom.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, R.E. Barkley, on October 23, 1986; her brother, Ernest Dwaine Weller; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Tom Cloud.
Natalia is survived by her sons, Keith Barkley and wife Kathleen of Groom, and Lee Barkley and wife Bickye of Pampa; her daughters, Cheryl Turvaville of Wheeler, Patricia Russell of Kelly, Louisiana, Jodie Fitzgerald and husband Chris of Denton, and Carrie Gaines and husband Phillip of Wheeler; her brother, Tommy Weller and wife Diane of Claude; her sister, Anna Mize of St. Francisville, Louisiana; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Linda Anderson of Amarillo.
The family requests that memorials be made to Parkview Assisted Living, 901 Sweetwater, Wheeler, TX 79096.
