Nathaniel "Nat" Tilton Muncus, 85, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, at The Gables on Pelham in
Greenville, South Carolina. Nat was known for his kind and welcoming personality, always brightening the day of those around him with ability to talk to anyone that crossed his path.
Born in Jonesville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Andy Tilton Muncus and Ester Williamson Muncus. Nat was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Walnut Cove, serving as a Deacon for many years. He retired from Eckerd Drug and assumed control of Muncus Brothers Wholesale, a family run produce company. Nat truly enjoyed working in the produce company as it afforded him the opportunity to interact with his customers forging invaluable friendships later in life. Nat's legacy of generosity, selflessness and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Nat is survived by his children, Teresa Barker, Lori Madden and Daryl Muncus; four grandchildren, Reagan and Meredith Muncus, Chris Madden and Matthew Barker and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Emilia Madden. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Muncus, of Pfafftown, North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Gillespie, Martha Muncus, and Treva Welborn and brothers, Romey Muncus, Wendell Muncus, Leonard Muncus, Allen Muncus, Noah Muncus and Roland Muncus.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Memory Care staff at The Gables of Pelham in
Greenville, SC as they provided steadfast care to Nat, welcoming him into their family and always making him feel special and loved. Also, many thanks to Matt Cobb and the entire Providence Hospice team for their care and concern over the recent weeks.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown.
