Nathaniel (Nat) Tilton Muncus, 85, of 402 Neston Drive, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Gables on Pelham in Greenville, South Carolina. He was known for his kind and welcoming personality, always brightening the day of those around him and with his ability to talk to anyone that crossed his path.
He was born April 28, 1939, in Yadkin County to the late Andy T. Muncus and Esther Williamson Muncus.
Nat was an executive for the Eckard Drug Corporation for more than 25 years and later retired from the family wholesale distribution business.
He served as deacon at New Hope Baptist Church in Walnut Cove for many years, later became an active member at Mineral Springs Baptist Church and attended Oldtown Baptist Church before his health began to decline.
He had a love of all sports, especially if Wake Forest was playing.
His greatest joy was spending time surrounded by his family, especially the grand and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Gillispie, Martha Muncus, and Treva Welborne; and brothers, Romey Muncus, Wendell Muncus, Leonard Muncus, Allen Muncus, Noah Muncus, and Roland Muncus.
He is Survived by his wife, Hazel Muncus (of the home); three children, Teresa Barker (Mike), Lori Madden, Daryl Muncus (Rhonda); four grandchildren, Matthew Barker (Meredith), Chris Madden (Chandler), Reagan Muncus, and Meredith Muncus; and two great grandchildren, Carter Madden, and Emilia Madden.
A viewing is scheduled for friends and family at Thomas – McAfee Funeral Home in Greenville, South Carolina on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Moody-Davis Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 12:00 until 1:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Salem Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.
Nat’s legacy of selfless generosity and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
