Neale Richard "Rick" McCombs, Jr.
Mr. McCombs, 78, of Charlotte, NC died January 3, 2025.
Born September 22, 1946, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Neale Richard McCombs and Rebecca Baldwin McCombs. He was a graduate of South Rowan High School in China Grove, NC where he played football. After graduation, Rick spent the next four years at East Carolina University, graduating with a degree in business. He then worked in his father's grocery stores, G & W Food Market and Big Dollar in Kannapolis, NC. After moving to Charlotte, NC, Rick was employed in the transportation industry (Logistics) for the next 35 years.
Rick was a member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon, on the cemetery committee, and the property team. He is currently a member of Good Shepherd Church in Charlotte, NC. He and his wife were charter members of The Friendship Force of Charlotte. They loved hosting friends from around the world which they met through this international organization.
Rick is survived by his wife Blair Fairley McCombs; a brother William "Bill" Floyd McCombs and nephew, Darren Young.
Friends and family may visit from 1pm to 2pm Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 with services following in the funeral home chapel at 2pm.
Interment will be held privately.
