Nelda Endecott Obituary

Published by Times Herald-Record on Dec. 27, 2009.
Montgomery, NY

Nelda P. Endecott of Montgomery, peacefully fell asleep in death while surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday, December 24, 2009. She was 51.

Nelda Endecott was born to Frank and Anita Magnanini on September 13, 1958 in Wallkill. She was soon joined by her brother, Frank, and her sisters, Vanda, Dorina, Phyllis and Valerie.

She graduated from Wallkill High School in 1976. She owned and operated her own hair salon in Walden, and lived in an apartment above the salon.

One of Nelda's greatest joys was spending time with her many nephews and nieces, who couldn't have had a better aunt. Nelda began to take a serious interest in learning more about God's will and began to study the Bible with Georgia Trout.

On September 6, 1980, Nelda was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Nelda attended the local congregation at Walden, and made many friends there and at Watchtower Farms, also known as Bethel. Through mutual friends, she met a Bethelite volunteering there from Oklahoma, John Endecott. They fell in love and were married on March 30, 1985. As a couple, they lived in Walden for awhile, and then moved to Oklahoma and began full-time service teaching the Bible to others on September 1, 1988.

As an Italian in Oklahoma, Nelda made quite an impression, and many more friends. Many remember her interview at a circuit assembly on how she overcame shyness to witness to people at the door, give comments during the meetings, and give student talks in front of the congregation. John and Nelda moved back to Wallkill and began to part-time commute to Watchtower Farms in 1991. Nelda learned a new trade working with the plumbing crew. Nelda took an interest in many young people in the congregation over the years, just hanging out and having fun. She showed them by example that you can be zealous for true worship and be a fun person.

John and Nelda began serving full-time at Watchtower Farms in October 1994 and continued until September 2005. To the gratitude of many Bethelites, Nelda's talent as a hair dresser was utilized in the barber shop. The highlight of Bethel life for Nelda was morning worship and sharing those thoughts with friends and family, making Bible truth come alive for others. In her time of need, she could draw strength from those thoughts and encourage others.

During the last twelve days of her life, when faced with a life and death situation, it was inspiring to her family and friends to see her determination, strength and faith. Nelda's greatest hope was in her God, Jehovah and no disease could take that away from her. Nelda appreciated her gift of life and did all she could to show appreciation for that gift. During Nelda's last few hours she was at peace and content and is ready to 'walk into Paradise'.

Survivors include her husband, John K. Endecott; parents, Frank and Anita Magnanini; brother and sisters: Frank and wife, Terri Magnanini, Vanda Barry, Dorina and husband, Ralph Di Martino, Phyllis and husband, Mike Bean, Valerie and husband, Matt Schurko; nephews and nieces: Daniel and Shannon Barry, Ronnie and John DeGroodt, Tyler and Casey Bean, Alyssa Lapinski, Jordan Schurko, and a loving extended family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 27, at 4 p.m. at the Pine Bush Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 22 Red Mills Road, Wallkill. The Public is invited to attend this 30-minute program.

Arrangements by Millspaugh Funeral Directors; 845-778-3200.

Nelda was all heart with complete Godly devotion. What a pure gift from Jehovah for the friends with her talent of styling hair ;to make the friends presentable for pure worship. We in the field are completely indebted to our precious Bethel workers who are the backbone for our ministry. Jehovah makes us all work together for his praise. Ro 8:28 Nelda will take her next breath in paradise to the eternal joy of all. With eternity in her heart, there will be no limit of constant blessings overflowing. Jehovah and Jesus will be thrilled to unite her with family and friends. Please be comforted in Jehovah’s love ; paradise is “just around the corner”. Warm
Christian Love, Sandy Wirfs

John,
I never got to know you or Nelda well, but your family has always felt like my family. Dean and I know what it feels like to lose someone you love. We are keeping you in our prayers. I can't wait until I can get to know you and Nelda better in Paradise. We wish you well.

To John Endecott and the Magnanini Family, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved Nelda. While I did not have the privilege of knowing Nelda (I’ve known Frank & Terry Magnanini and, more recently, John through personal home renovation projects) it’s clear from reading the notes of those who knew her well, Nelda was a rare jewel, a shining example of compassion, love, kindness, caring, and deep faith. Nelda’s love will remain with you forever in your hearts. May God’s grace and strength be with you all.

John & Magnanini Family,
I cant tell you enough how much Nelda was and still is an encouragment to me. I will always remember the strength and support she showed me in my time of trial while in NY in 2002 with the blood issue. I will ALWAYS remember her memorial service, and I was so glad I tied in..that has to be the most encouraging TALK I've ever heard in my 23 years in the truth. There would be no greater honor to know "that I had a good name with Jehovah" in my final days, and no doubt Nelda was confident. She will always be an encouragement to me. My thought and prayers are with all the family and sisters of Nelda.

It's been so kind of Karen to keep everyone up to date. Nelda was surely a dear friend. I will truly miss hearing from her for the time being. It alwasy meant so much that she kept me in mind. Brooks has fond memories of having her cut his hair at the Farm; she was always so happy and vivacious; it could help but rub off on everyone around her. Well, dear friends, we do look forward so much to having this grief replaced by joy and pray for your endurance until that day!

Endecott & Magnanini
Our prayers are with you all. We loved Nelda very much and our memories of our time with her and her sisters while we lived in Walden in 1980 have never been forgotten. Song 111 came to mind right away and Lois and I said that when "He will call" Nelda will not say "where am I," but will leap up smilling and shouting "Thank You Jehovah" now lets have fun in paradise.

I always loved talking to Nelda when she was cutting my hair. She had a real fear to venture into the city and marveled at our forays there. How odd for such a strong girl I thought. We remember your great love when dating, John. We will miss her but look forward to seeing her and Georgia together.

Dear John,

You have been in our prayers and thoughts constantly. We were so glad to be able to tie in and hear the beautiful memorial given on Sunday. It was one of the most memorable talks we ever heard. We go over it again and again. We can't picture Nelda without seeing a big smile. May Jehovah give you and her family the strenght to face each day until that most wonderful day occurs...and she hears his voice and comes out. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy and love.

Dear Endecott and Magnanini families,
I am very saddened by this news. I think I remember Nelda at the assembly mentioned in the article.(I am from NY but live in OK)
Here's a little story about Nelda. Back in the 80's she tried very hard to get my sister (Lisa) into the truth. In the meantime, she found someone to study with me. (Liz Soares)How happy I am that she did. Although Lisa never accepted, I did.
My deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers to the family at this time.
And when Nelda's resurrected I hope to tell her this story myself.

I can't even summon forth the right words to convey my sadness at this news. I don't think I've ever met a more beautiful person than Nelda. Always a smile on her face and nothing but kindness; that is how I'll always remember her. My sincerest condolences to the entire Magnanini family, and of course to John and his family. A bright light in the world has gone out, but it will shine on in the hearts of all who knew her....

Dear John:
Sorry seems insufficient to convey the depth of my sorrow for your loss, and the pain losing someone so dear brings. Nelda was the love of your life and I am sure she experienced more love in her short time with you than many experience in a lifetime of marriage. I wish you peace and love and fortitude of your soul.
You are a dear friend and a good man...much love and heartfelt prayers for you and your family....juliana
