Nelson Inael Castillo de Leon, 23, of Utica, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Cuilco, Huehuetenango, Guatemala, moved to Georgia five years ago and only recently to the Owensboro area.
Nelson enjoyed a variety of construction work, including concrete work and painting. He was a quick learner, a sociable and friendly young man, and he’ll be dearly missed by many.
He is survived by his parents, Rigoberto A. Castillo Gomez and Martha L. de Leon Perez; a sister, Arelia Castillo de Leon; brothers, Hubertino Angelino Castillo de Leon, Robelio Castillo de Leon and Melvin Castillo de Leon; grandparents, Lusinda Perez and Juan de Leon; aunts, Magno de Leon, Orbelina de Leon and Arminda de Leon; uncles, Marino Castillo, Nery de Leon, Rosmery de Leon and Edimia de Leon; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 4:00 PM, Saturday, September 21 at the Church of God, Iglesia Fuente de Agua Viva, 500 Orchard Street, Owensboro. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 until 4:00 PM. Burial will be in Guatemala.
