It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Edward Holly II, a man whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Nick passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 80.
Nick was born on November 26, 1944 in Manitowoc WI, and moved to Bay City, MI at the age of 12. He was a 1963 graduate of Bay City Central High School, a 1965 graduate of Northeastern School of Commerce and a 1968 graduate of Cleary College where he received his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Nick played, football, baseball, skated and tap danced in his youth, and carried dancing into his adulthood.
He was a devoted husband to Deena (Hubbard) Holly for 31 years, and a loving father to his daughter's, Amy and Jenny. He loved being a father and taught his girls to fish, hunt, skate, swim, hike, ride a bike and drive a car. He was proud of all they achieved.
Nick's professional life was marked by a successful career in Finance at Ford Motor Company. He retired after 32 years and moved to Beaverton Michigan to enjoy his retirement. Nick could be found hunting, fishing, golfing, or boating during those "Golden Years," which he immensely enjoyed.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Nick had a deep appreciation for the world of sports. Whether cheering passionately from the sidelines of his grandchildren's games, the stadium seats at the "BIG HOUSE" or talking about the results of the previous day's games with friends, sports were a significant part of his life. He was an avid fan of the University of Michigan, Green Bay Packers, and Detroit Lions.
Nick was involved in his community, he was a 35-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3655 serving the offices of Chaplin, Vice President, President and Past Worthy President. He was also a member of the Moose, First Presbyterian Church, Gladwin Lodge No. 397, F. & A.M., and Tau Kappa Delta.
Nick's memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Deena (Hubbard) Holly; his children, Amy (Chuck) Downer and Jennifer Holly Yount, his grandchildren: Madison (Jake) Miller, Darwin Downer, Mallory Downer, Sydney (Sam) Larsen and Eli Yount, a great grandson Wyatt Miller, and a bonus granddaughter, Kayla Lemmer, as well as a wide circle of extended family and friends who will dearly miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles, and Marjorie (French) Holly, his sister Mary Goode, his brothers Charles Holly, Jr., Thomas (Joanne) Holly and James Holly.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 17, 2025 at First Presbyterial Church, 805 Center Avenue, Bay City, MI 48708. The family will greet friends at the church from 10:00am – 11:00am until Nick's 11:00 am memorial service, Rev. Brenna Overland will preside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nick's name to First Presbyterian Church Memorial or Youth fund, the American Diabetes Association, or the American Heart Association.
In celebration of Nick's love for sports, we invite you to wear Maize and Blue honoring his favorite team to the memorial service. Let us honor his passion and spirit in a way he would have truly appreciated.
Nick's kind spirit, warm laughter, and passionate support for his teams will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and enthusiasm will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear about Nick's passing. My brother Tom played football with him at BCC way back in the day. I also knew Nick's Dad when I worked at Frank's Standard Service, where he was one of our good customers. I believe his Dad worked for DeFoe Ship Building. What a great family. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with Nick's family at this most difficult time
