Nicholas Ryan Murtha passed away on August 23, 2024. He was born on July 9, 1991, in Portland, Maine, to Thomas and Pamela (Hutchison) Murtha. Growing up he and his siblings followed their parents around the country (and across the Atlantic), living in Maine, Utah, Scotland, and Arizona before settling in Texas in 2000. A homebody at heart, Nick was grateful to finally be stationary for a while.
He graduated from Round Rock High School in 2009, then went on to attend college at Arizona State University (a decision made easier by the fact that his Mémère and Pépère, whom he adored, were close by and happy to make him a home-cooked meal on the weekends). Nick graduated from ASU in 2013 and happily returned home to Texas, moving in with his big brother, Sean.
Nick began working for Dell Technologies in 2014, where he quickly distinguished himself. Perhaps the best thing about working for Dell, though, at least in Nick's mind, is that it was where he met Aryn, the love of his life. They bonded over their mutual love of video games, graphic novels, and delicious food. They were married in November 2019, and their son Judah Robert Murtha was born two years later, in August of 2021.
Nick was a devoted and loving husband and father. He took to fatherhood like a Jedi to the Force and loved spending weekend mornings entertaining Judah, taking photographs and videos of their goofy escapades and sharing them with family and friends. His son was his heart and soul and his gift to the world.
Nick was a kind, generous, loving, giving, patient, and funny man. He had a great smile and a hearty, infectious laugh. His warm, positive energy was felt by all who met him, and his light will be sorely missed in the lives of those who loved him.
He is survived by his wife Aryn LaFosse Murtha, son Judah, parents Tom and Pam Murtha, brother Sean Murtha, sister Courtney Murtha, grandfather John Murtha, in-laws Tammany and Robert LaFosse, and numerous aunts and uncles and cousins.
"Please join us in celebration of Nick's life and share a memory for his son Judah."

What a huge lost...

I just came back from my leave, and I found this sad news, which saddened me, I am still shocked.
I worked with him in the same team, for me he was an extraordinary person that I will never forget, I think of his family, his wife and his son Judah in particular, I pray God to be at their side in these hard times.

Nick, I will never forget you.

Dear Aryn and Judah,

We were so saddened to hear from our daughter Abby, who attended high school with you, about the sudden loss of your dear husband and loving father. Please know we are keeping you, Judah and your whole family in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

We are asking Jesus to provide you with the peace, comfort and HOPE only He can provide. We pray you can feel His loving arms embracing you and helping you through the difficult days ahead.

We are lifting you up in prayer and sending love to you all.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Rev. Michael and Cindy Newman

One memory that stands out about Nicholas is how, despite not being my direct manager, he was always someone I could turn to for guidance, support, or help with escalations. Nicholas had a way of handling even the most challenging situations with grace, kindness, and a deep sense of empathy. He was approachable and easy to talk to, which made a world of difference in a fast-paced environment. His energy was contagious, and his character truly unmatched. Nicholas wasn´t just invested in his role; he cared deeply about his team and the organization as a whole. I'll always remember him as a loving, caring, and supportive leader who made a lasting impact on everyone around him.

Nick was our son-in-law. The first time we met him we knew he and Aryn were meant for each other. He was engaging, funny, smart, determined. We were so happy to have him join our family. When Judah came along, Nick proved he was also an amazing father. This is an indescribable loss - to his family, our family, his friends and co-workers. But especially to Aryn and Judah. Our hearts are breaking.
