In the 2009 Jim Dent book Resurrection: The Miracle Season that Saved Notre Dame, he was portrayed as the underdog based on the 1964 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team. He was a former professional football player for the Atlanta Falcons from 1966 to 1968. Second round draft pick. He served our country for six years (1965-1971) in the Army and as a staff sergeant the Army Reserves.
Nicholas has a masters degree in business from Loyola University. Nick began his investment banking career at First Chicago and worked to be managing partner at Brinson Partners in Chicago, Illinois. By retirement, he was Senior Vice President at UBS. In 2015, he was inducted into the Sports Faith Hall of Fame.
He fell in love with the Tetons though college friend John Turner (Triangle X Ranch) and purchased land in 1965 in Moose, Wyoming. He eventually built his dream home and retired to the mountains almost 30 years ago. Nick enjoyed fly fishing, bike riding, skiing, elk and turkey hunting and watching his kids sporting events. He enjoyed coaching grade school and high school football. He appreciated the beauty of the Tetons every day.
Nicholas is survived by three children. Sean (Tara) Rassas, Todd (Angela) Rassas, and Paige (Joe) Sorce. Grandchildren Sydney, Cole, Madison, Connor, Mackenzie, and Quinn Rassas. He is also survived by his brother George (Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago), Margot, Kevin, (Susie) and Deirdre (Justin) Zubrod.
