Obituary of Nicholas J. Rudman
Nicholas J. Rudman, age 74 of Joliet, passed away peacefully at his home, on Saturday, May 13, 2023, with family by his side. He was born in Joliet, IL, on February 14, 1949, the son of the late Nicholas and Theresa (nee Spreitzer) Rudman. Nicholas was a lifelong resident of Joliet and was a graduate of Joliet West High School, Class of 1967. After graduation he attended Joliet Junior College for the following 2 years. During high school Nicholas started working at Gaylords in Crest Hill in the sporting goods department, where he quickly was promoted to manager. He moved on from Gaylords working for Uniroyal and Joliet Army Ammunition as a Quality Control Manager, and later went on to work in sales for several flooring company's before retiring from Century Tile.
Nick played the trombone and the accordion. He was in the band in high school and continued playing in the American Legion Band for many years which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Nicholas is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sharon L. (nee Steffes) Rudman; his children, Jennifer, Timothy, Mary and Nick (Corrie) Rudman; grandchildren, Katelyn, Paul Jr., Macee, Emilee, Taylor, Izzy, Colin, Eastyn and Cody.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Nicholas will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father and poppy.
A Memorial Gathering for Nicholas J. Rudman will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to his family for causes close to his heart.
