Noah Farabaugh, the cherished son of Robert and Maureen Farabaugh of
Niceville, Florida, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 11 in Arizona. He was 33.
Born on September 21, 1991, at Eglin Air Force Base, Noah grew up in Niceville, the second of five children raised in the Farabaugh home. Living in Florida, he developed a love for the outdoors and spent countless hours on the water and exploring nature through hiking, fishing, rafting, diving and any other outdoor activity you can imagine. He loved animals, and with his family volunteered at a nearby wolf preserve.
A graduate of Collegiate High School, he was an active member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church's Catholic Youth Ministry and served as an altar boy. His faith was an inspiration to many, and he lived his Christian beliefs through his kindness and warmth toward his classmates and everyone he encountered.
Noah went on to study business administration at the University of West Florida, where he earned a bachelor's degree with a concentration in marketing. He worked 12-hour days as a deckhand to help pay for his tuition, demonstrating a legendary frugality that became part of the Farabaugh family lore.
Noah was employed by Dexcom as a senior manager in global transportation in Phoenix, Arizona. His co-workers were like family to him, and he often spent time with them outside of work, enjoying the outdoors. Prior to joining Dexcom, Noah lived in Arkansas, North Carolina, Alabama and Guam.
Noah loved traveling, and through his employment with Dexcom he was able to visit every corner of the world, from San Diego, California, to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. He also traveled with family and friends to Korea, Japan, Fiji, Bali, Vietnam and Australia, and enjoyed a rafting/camping trip through the Grand Canyon with his close friends the Frisbees. While living in Guam, he was certified in scuba diving and enjoyed trips to celebrated diving sites, including Palau, "The Mecca of Diving." At the time of his passing, he was training for a rim-to-rim hike through the Grand Canyon with his friends in Arizona.
Noah deeply loved his large, boisterous family, and was extremely close to his parents, siblings and cousins. He was like a brother to many friends and coworkers who mourn his loss, and was looked up to by classmates, fellow youth group members, coworkers, and others who were touched by his quick wit, calm demeanor, and ever-present smile. According to several cousins and friends, Noah's ultimate goal was to purchase yacht on which he could travel the world and come back for frequent visits to his family in Florida.
Noah's warmth, generosity, and good humor will long be remembered by his family and friends. "Noah had a rare combination: a brilliant mind, a relentless work ethic, and the kind of quiet confidence that inspired the people around him to aim higher, too," his longtime friend Zack Bodie recalled. "He was effortlessly funny. His sense of humor was sharp and often laced with just the right amount of sarcasm. He had a signature way of making people laugh – not by trying too hard, but by being unapologetically himself. He had a talent for seeing the absurdity in everyday life and calling it out with perfect timing. He used to tell people – 'If you think I'm witty, you should meet my family. You have to be this way just to get a word in.' "
Noah is survived by his parents, Rob and Maureen; his sister, Alexa (Zack) Finney; cousin Hannah Roos (who was raised with Noah); brothers Elijah and Micah; nephew Sebastion and niece Caoimhe; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were like family.
The Farabaugh family would like to express their gratitude to the many friends who have offered comfort and support to them in recent days. In addition to the many local friends, they are grateful to Noah's Dexcom family, who hosted a celebration of life for him in Arizona and who provided them with so much assistance while they were there. Noah touched so many people in his short life, and his legacy of kindness continues.
Noah's funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1200 Valparaiso Boulevard in Niceville. A reception at the church will follow immediately after the service, followed by a burial service at Heritage Gardens Cemetery in Niceville. Family and friends are invited to gather at Third Planet Brewery after the burial service for a celebration of Noah's life.
