Noel D Gemmel

Noel David Gemmel passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 73, at Mercy Health New Life Hospice in Lorain, Ohio.
Noel was born December 23, 1951, in New London, Ohio to Emil H. and Charlotte Gemmel. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1969. He worked for nearly 40 years as a tool and die maker at Milford Rivet and Invacare in Elyria, Ohio and was blessed to enjoy every day of it.
He was an active member of Solid Rock Community Church in Elyria, Ohio where he helped in the food pantry, hot meals and mowing the lawn.
He loved all things trains. Real trains, model trains, train magazines, train videos and traveling with his wife by rail through North America and Europe.
He was known for his sense of humor, his good natured orneriness, and his generous hugs.
Noel is survived by his loving wife, Barri (nee Barley) Gemmel of almost 50 years; son, Steven Gemmel (wife Zuzana Gemmel); daughter, Sarah Miller (husband Dave Miller); son, David Gemmel (wife Krista Gemmel); granddaughters, Raegan Miller and Teagan Gemmel; grandsons, Owen Gemmel, Nolan Gemmel and Sullivan Gemmel; mother, Charlotte Gemmel, brother, Emil D. (Ruth) Gemmel and sister, Ellen (the late Don) Sprinkle; and many nieces and nephews.
Noel was preceded in death by his father, Emil H. Gemmel.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 10am-12pm at Solid Rock Community Church, 680 N. Abbe Rd., Elyria, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12pm.
