Norbert John Scully II

Norbert John Scully II, 79, of Ocala, FL passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Norbert grew up between Chicagoland and Florida before traveling the world as an Interior Communications Electrician Fireman Apprentice in the United States Navy, where he proudly served on the USS Independence (CVA-62). After returning to the states, Norbert transferred the skills he honed abroad into a career as an electrician for Commonwealth Edison. In addition to raising a young family and excelling at his work, Norbert was also a gifted athlete and coached high school and collegiate track at Benet Academy and Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.
Norbert was a consummate entertainer with a talent for telling jokes and making babies belly laugh. An excellent cook, he often took to the road on his signature meatball tours, stocking the fridges and freezers of everyone he cared for. Norbert was an adored member of his Ocala community and was blessed with a chosen family of friends and neighbors who delighted him with their culture, kindness, and support. Norbert loved meeting new people and had a knack for making anyone who entered into his orbit feel special.
He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Norbert John Scully Sr. and F. Bernadine Scully (née Lanphear), his brother Thomas Scully, and his sister Nora Scully. He is survived by his sister Nancy (Keith) Schwartz and his children Norbert John Scully III, Michael Scully, Bridget (Todd) King, Bob Cullen, Kristine Scully, and Kaitlin Scully. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Tyler Cullen, Talynn (Dylan) Bridgers, Vivian King, Nicholas King, and Deklan Millar, his great-grandchildren Blaine Bridgers and Noah Bridgers, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. at Queen of Peace Church, 6455 SR-200 SW, Ocala, FL 34476.
