Norma, a lifelong resident of Washington County, attended a local school near her home. She began working at a young age. One of her first jobs was cleaning homes and babysitting for local families. Norma later worked for John Reynolds Clothing Store, Brown Shoe and Hill Factory, served as a cook at Potosi Elementary for two years, and also worked for Missouri Home Care as an In-Home Aide. Norma set forth an amazing work ethic. On June 29, 1950, Norma was united in marriage to Harvey Joe Compton in Potosi and two sons were born to this union. Through the years she loved working in her vegetable garden and canned many jars of green beans. She was also skilled in cooking and baking. In addition she made the best divinity at Christmas as well as fudge. Norma was also talented in cake decorating and would make elaborate birthday cakes as well as cakes for other special occasions. Norma will be deeply missed by those who loved and knew her.
