Norma "Anne" Denner

Norma Ann ("Anne") Greer Denner, 82, formerly of Evansville, IN, and Bardstown, KY, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Deland, Florida where she lived near her son and daughter-in-law.
Anne was born on June 19, 1942, in Bardstown, Kentucky, to the late Isaac and Nellie (Marks) Greer. She worked as an instructor in the Biology Department at the University of Southern Indiana for thirty-two years and as a registered nurse at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. Anne received an Associate Degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana, a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Kentucky, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana, and a Master of Science Degree from Iowa State University.
Anne is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Denner and Laura Baber of New Rochelle, NY, and Michael Denner and Nicole Denner of Deland, FL. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Arthur, Henry, Isaac, and Alexandra ("Sasha") Denner.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Melvin ("Mike") Denner, in 2003; by her long-time partner, Don Shephard, in 2023; by an infant daughter, Joy Anne; and by two brothers, Isaac Jr. and Donald Greer.
Anne was a beloved teacher, colleague, caregiver, friend, and mother. She was also known for her love of genealogy and cats.
Funeral services for Anne will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Pierre Funeral Home, with Reverend David Nunning officiating. The burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family from 9:00 AM until the end of the service on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
