Norma Jean (Fox) Shelton, 96, of Decatur, passed away at Woodcrest on March 18, 2025. She was born on May 2, 1928, in Adams County, IN, to the late Jesse and Dora (Hirschy) Fox. Norma married George E. Shelton on August 27, 1950, at Cross Evangelical Reformed Church in Berne, IN. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1995.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and the Friendship Club. She graduated from Pleasant Mills High School in 1946.
Norma had been employed at the former Morris 5 & 10 Cent Store and Lord's Dress Shop of Decatur. She retired from Decatur Industries after 28 years of service. After several years of retirement, she worked at Walmart from 1998 to 2013.
She is survived by her son, Todd Shelton of Decatur, IN; a brother-in-law, Richard Fiechter of Craigville, IN; a sister-in-law, Barbara Fox of Decatur, IN; a brother-in-law, Bill (Susan) Shelton of Las Vegas, NV; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in death by her daughter, Pam Thomas; her son, Bradley Shelton; two brothers, Leonard and Ferris Fox; a sister, Wava Fiechter; and a grandson in infancy.
A Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home in Decatur. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Zion United Church of Christ.
Arrangements are entrusted to Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
