Norman Kern 87, of Jasper, IN. died at his home Tuesday July 11, 2023.
Norman was born in Dale, IN on July 22, 1935 to Ambrose and Augusta (Jochim) Kern.
He married Alice (Wetzel) Sergesketter on June 20, 1984.
He is survived by his wife Alice, his children Larry, Terry, Lisa and Teresa, his step children Randy, Kevin and Kimberly, a sister Marie Obermeier, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Bridget; siblings Anton (Tony), Bill, Leo and Andrew Kern and Leona Fuchs; and stepsiblings, Mary Catherine Woodall and Joe Gootee.
Norman was Catholic, a member of the St. Meinrad and Jasper American Legion Posts and the YMI. He was an accomplished and skilled woodworker who could fix anything, an avid gardener, and a passionate St. Louis Cardinals and Indiana sports fan. He was an Army veteran and enjoyed a 55-year career with Kimball International where he held multiple roles including Supervisor and Production Manager. Norman was recognized in 2006 and again in 2010 for his record long Kimball tenure.
A Private Graveside Service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Meinrad American Legion Post #366, P.O. Box 104, St. Meinrad, Indiana.
