Norman William McCalmon

Norman McCalmon, 80, of Royse City, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Born on March 7, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Norman was the son of Mary Katherine Hepline McCalmon and Malcom McCalmon. He married Debbie Lynn Story on August 14, 2006, in Rockwall, Texas, and together they built a life filled with love and family.

Norman is survived by his wife, Debbie; his sister, Judy Childress; his children, William McCalmon, Makenzie Manuell, Joseph Hoffmaster, DesaRae Adams, Rebecca Lee, and Shannon Budynkiewicz; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, Maverick.

A proud veteran, Norman served in the United States Air Force from May 1962 through April 1966. After his service, he turned his love of the open road into a lifelong career, driving for Greyhound, Continental Trailways, Buses by Bill, and eventually O'Reilly's. He also had a special passion for Volkswagens and delighted in driving and tinkering with them whenever he could.

Norman had a deep love of learning and imagination. He was rarely without a book, and he enjoyed sketching creative ideas and inventions that reflected the way he envisioned the world.

He believed in possibilities and always looked at life with curiosity and creativity.

He was deeply proud of his country and his service, carrying with him a strong sense of patriotism. Norman was also a dedicated supporter of President Donald Trump and held firm to his values and beliefs.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a man with both a practical hand and a dreamer's heart. His legacy of love, imagination, and family devotion will continue to live on through all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at the City of Fate Community Center. The family will gather to share memories, celebrate his journey, and embrace the love he gave so freely.
