Norman K. Meyer

Meyer, Norman Kenneth, Beloved husband of Dorothea O. Meyer (nee Heim). Devoted father of Barry (Nitakay) Meyer, Bonnie (Barry) Meyer Day, Beverly (Roger) Abel, Brian and Becky Meyer. Loving grandfather of Kenny (Mandy) Reardon, Casey (Holly) Meyer, Jesse Reardon, Dallas (Amanda) Meyer, Aaron, Ethan and Carli Meyer, Brady and Jacob Reardon and the late Raymond Meyer. Great grandpa of Austin, Johnathan and Riley Meyer, Dakota and Carter Reardon, Finley and Keegan Meyer. Dear brother of William and Alfred Meyer, Margie Beechler and the late Carl, Robert, Donald and Joseph Meyer, Marie Westerhold, Francis Hagemann and Joyce Peepers. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceeded in death by his parents Gladys (Brock) and Carl Meyer. Passed peacefully surrounded by family on Dec. 20, 2015 Age 86. Born September 17, 1929 in Moberly, MO, he served in the Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. Norm was longtime owner of Meyer Taxidermy in Miamitown, OH. He was former Chairman and inductee into the Taxidermy Hall of Fame (1990). His work was enlisted by the Smithsonian Institute where he helped restore a group of animals taken by Teddy Roosevelt including a prized Red Kargaroo. He taught taxidermy at Princeton High School and Northern Kentucky University. Norm was an avid hunter and member of Ohio Valley Duck Hunters. He helped found the TIP program through the Ohio Division of Wildlife and also wrote articles with Bob Rankin at the Cincinnati Enquirer and Western Hills Press. He was former Whitewater Township Trustee and member of Western Hills Lodge F&AM # 762 and the American Legion Post #199. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2pm until time of Masonic Lodge Services at 4pm at Minges Funeral Home 10385 New Haven Rd., Harrison.
