Norman David Wilcox, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 85. He was a man of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to his family and to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Norman was born on July 5, 1940, to David H. and Ann Burnett Wilcox. He grew up in Syracuse, where he learned the values of hard work, humility, and community that would guide him throughout his life. From an early age, Norman worked on his family’s farm and developed a lifelong love of the land. He graduated from Davis High School in 1958, where he was active in FFA, serving as chapter president and leading his team to win first place at the Utah State Convention in Parliamentary Procedure—one of his proudest high school accomplishments.

Following graduation, Norman served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1958 to 1965, achieving the rank of Specialist 4th Class. In 1962, Norman served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western Canadian Mission. He served faithfully for two years, laboring in seven areas from Dawson Creek to Lethbridge and helping many individuals and families come unto Christ.

After returning home, Norman was set up on a blind date with Joy Wilhelmsen. On their second date, he knew that he wanted to marry her. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 12, 1965. Together, they raised seven children. Norman and Joy built a life centered on family, faith, and service. They built their home in Syracuse, Utah, where they remained the rest of their lives. Together they worked as a team to provide for their family, maintain their home, and manage their Idaho farm. After retirement, Norman and Joy served a mission together in the Tennessee Nashville Mission (2010–2011). They were lovingly known as “The Tennessee Two.” Their service brought them great joy and lifelong friendships. Their marriage of nearly 56 years was a testament to enduring love, faith, and partnership. His life is a reflection of the strong faith he had in the Savior.

Norman found joy in simple things, tending the garden as a family, picking melons on the family farm, and working on his tractors. He was always up for a game of cards, sharing his Dutch Oven Chicken, and serving a large slice of Joy’s homemade pie, or a scoop of Green Pineapple Ice Cream. After their retirement, Norman and Joy enjoyed traveling and visiting new places together.

Although his presence will truly be missed, the lessons that he planted in each of us will continue to grow strong. His legacy will be remembered.

He is preceded in death by his eternal companion, Joy; his parents, David and Ann; his five siblings, Milton, Rex, Dee, Floyd, and Roseanne; and his son Darrell. He is survived by his children, Lauri, Teresa (Dwayne), Trent (Alicia), Kelton (Brandee), Joylinn (David), and Dallas (Heidi); 22 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish his example of love, integrity, and hard work.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who provided care for Norman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilcox Meadows Ward building at 700 South 2500 West, Syracuse UT. Friends may visit with family on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary. 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse, and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment to follow at Syracuse City Cemetery. 1250 South 1000 West, Syracuse UT.
