O.D. Jack Keas, born October 7, 1928, passed away on January 25, 2025. He was the son of Dallas Broughton Keas and Helen Gertrude Kimbell (Keas) and was born in Elk City, Oklahoma. His mother remarked that he was too large for a natural birth, weighing 11 lbs. 12 oz., and was thus born in Elk City. Jack only completed an eighth-grade education due to the divorce of his parents. The family lived in a two-bedroom house where Beuford, Delmer, James, and Jack shared one room, while his father, mother, and sister, Wilma, lived in the other.
In 1941, Jack, Jim, and Wilma moved to Oklahoma City with Jack's mother. At just 12 years old, Jack began working as a dishwasher. In 1943, Jack and Jim started working at B.H. Passmore Roofing and Sheet Metal. In 1949, Jack and Jim launched their own business, Sheet Metal Service Company, in a small building at NW 10th and May Avenue in Oklahoma City. The business thrived, eventually growing into one of the largest stainless-steel companies in the country. Jack was the first person to master welding and polishing stainless steel in the southwest part of the United States and trained many others in the art of fabrication.
In 1997, Jack and his son, Don, established Keas Stainless Steel Fabricators, which quickly became a top-five fabrication shop nationwide and gained high respect in the industry. Jack retired in 2009 to care for his wife, Sybil, after her cancer diagnosis.
Jack and Sybil (McLerran) were married on March 5, 1949, and spent 62 wonderful years together. They had two sons, Ronald Jack Keas, born December 19, 1949, and Donald Glenn Keas, born December 5, 1951. Ronald passed away in February 1975. Donald married Patricia (Judkins) on December 9, 1972, and they had two sons, Zackery Don and Aaron Jack Keas. Zackery married Mary James, and Aaron married Emily Dorrell. Jack had two grandsons, Zack and Aaron, and four great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Lillian James Keas, Cadence Jane Keas, Carrington Jae Keas, and Ethan Riley Keas.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sybil; brothers, Beuford, Delmer, and James; sister, Wilma; and son, Ronald Jack Keas. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him. https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/index.php?data=MTczODE4ODIzODM0NzczNyZvbmVyb29tLWFkbWluJmNvcHlfbGluaw== https://www.tributeslides.com/tributes/show/B6NL2GCLGS6W5JRF To send flowers to the family of O.D., please visit our floral store.
