Saratoga Springs - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Olivia Grace Allen, age 18, who bravely battled leukemia until March 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, kindness and boundless optimism. Despite facing the challenges of illness, Olivia's spirit never wavered; she was truly an inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to be part of her journey.
Olivia graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in June, 2023, and was poised to embark on a future as bright as her smile. Olivia planned to attend Florida State University, and major in nursing. During high school, Olivia was an exceptional individual who excelled in various aspects of her life. As an athlete, Olivia exemplified determination, discipline and a competitive spirit. Whether she was on the field hockey turf, track or the balance beam, Olivia gave her all. Her love for sports was not just about winning; it was about the joy of the game (or sport), the camaraderie of teammates, and the lessons of perseverance and teamwork. Olivia was also very involved in the school community. She was an active member of Best Buddies, Unified Sports, Student Council, and the National Honor Society. Olivia will forever be remembered for her radiant spirit and the positive impact that she made.
Olivia's role as a sister was equally important. They were not just siblings, they were best friends who navigated life together, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever. As a daughter, Olivia was a source of immeasurable happiness and inspiration. Olivia's love knew no bounds, and her family's love for her was equally boundless. To her friends, Olivia was known for her infectious smile and genuine kindness. She was fun, determined and empathetic. Olivia's ability to brighten even the darkest of days will be remembered fondly by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Although Olivia's time with us was far too short, her legacy will endure through the memories, lessons, and love she shared with the world. She leaves behind a profound impact on all who knew her, a legacy of bravery, compassion, and courageousness that will continue to inspire us all.
Olivia was predeceased by her grandfather, Robert Allen. To continue her memory are her parents Charles and Mellisa (Gordon) Allen; sister, Sophia; grandparents Louise Elliott, Ai Gordon and Jeanne Gordon; cherished aunts and uncles; as well as many cousins, extended family members and friends.
Olivia's family would like to thank the wonderful care that she received from The Bernard and Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center. We would like to give our sincerest appreciation to Dr. Katherine Halligan, and for the entire staff who cared for Olivia. They became cherished friends to Olivia on her journey, not just caregivers. Their dedication, and commitment to her well-being were sources of comfort and strength, enabling her to face each day with courage and grace.
To honor Olivia's remarkable life, there will be viewing from 9:00 - 2:00 PM, followed by her service at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, April 20, at the Saratoga Springs City Center, 522 Broadway, Saratoga Springs.
