Ollie Hubbard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Heritage Chapel - Kansas City on Sep. 8, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Ollie Hubbard was born on June 1, 1940 to the union of R.A. and Ollie Mae Hubbard in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Lincoln High School graduating in 1958. He

earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri and a Master's Degree at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri.

In 1966 he met Sandra Hubbard, a fellow teacher at Richardson Elementary School. They later married and to this union two daughters were born, Kimberly Michele, and

KaAnna Lynne. His love for children and young people was shown not only for his own children, but in the many other young people he worked with while teaching, or as a Home School Coordinator in the Kansas City, MO School District. His connection with many of these young people has lasted through the years.

Ollie was known as "Big Hub" to many of his friends. He loved people and never met a stranger as is shown in the many people he knew and the number of social and

community events he promoted and initiated. He was never happier then when he was inviting people into his home to sample something he had cooked. He was a champion of selling tickets to help promote various organizations such as Lincoln University Alumni Association. On special occasions, he helped in the kitchen at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church where he is a member.

Ollie was a life member of Lincoln University Alumni Association. He was one of the initial members of Monday Nite Football, a group of friends who love football especially the Chiefs. They meet every Monday Nite during football season to socialize and discuss what the Chiefs are doing and what they could do better. The group has been active for over 50 years and has grown into a group that is also very active in the community.

Ollie departed this life September 4, 2025 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.A. and Ollie Mae Hubbard, and his brother Jimmy Hubbard. He

leaves to cherish his memory, Sandra Hubbard, his wife of 57 years, daughters , Kimberly Hurd ( Walter), and KaAnna Hubbard, granddaughter, Karrington

Stafford, niece Marilyn Hinton (Gus), nephew Jamaine Hubbard and many loving family and friends. In the place of flowers the family is asking to send donations to Lincoln University Alumni Association or Ebenezer A.M.E. Church.

Memorial services will Saturday, September 20, at 11:00am at Ebenezer A. M. E. Church. Private Disposition. Fraternity services at 10:30am at church along with family hour to follow. Arrangements entrusted to Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
