Ora Jean, Jean to those that knew and loved her, passed away at SGMC after a valiant fight with a short illness, surrounded by her loved ones.
Jean was born to Flora Chambers Ivey and Lester L. Ivey in Cornelia, Georgia. She graduated from Bass High School in 1951. A devoted wife and mother of three daughters Teresa Spry, Candye Spry and Beverly Spry Williamson. A hard-working and loving mother, Jean worked in the home to raise the girls. Later she devoted herself to helping others at several locations of Rich's department store. After she retired from retail, she loved caring for children at the church nursery for many years. After more than 85 years in Atlanta, she and her daughters, Teresa and Candye, moved to Valdosta, Georgia to spend more time with family.
Jean loved spending time with her only granddaughter, Ashley Williamson Mock, and her husband, CJ Mock of Valdosta, and two great granddaughters, Addison and Annabelle.
An avid animal lover, Jean would stop to help any animal in need and loved the beautiful outdoors and hearing and seeing birds. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, knitting, going to the beach and playing bingo.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; former husband of 32 years, George Spry; Mother and Daddy Wall, who helped raise her like their own daughter.
