Orvie Lee Luedemann

Orvie Lee Luedemann 92, passed away on December 15, 2024. Lee was born at home in Green Vine, Texas on a snowy day March 11, 1932 in Burton, Texas to Albert and Lillie Deiss Luedemann. He attended school in Burton, Texas and Green Vine Baptist Church. When he was old enough he worked at a little shop across the road from his house, and that is where he began to think about becoming a mechanic.

Lee was a veteran of the United States Army. He enlisted and shipped out to El Paso & then Carrigozo, New Mexico on his 21st birthday in 1953. That very same day his brother Roy returned home from his stint in Korea. Lee said he always wanted to see the world but did not get to go out of the United States, which was probably a blessing for his mom and dad. Lee said he did not like the area where he was stationed and that it was all desert and he couldn't wait to get home and re-enter civilian life.Later, after moving to Brenham, Lee attended church in Brenham, where he was one of the founding members of Calvary Baptist Church. He was the person who named Calvary Baptist Church Calvary. He also sang in the choir there and he always wanted to be a good singer, like his brother, but never felt like he was.

In June of 1956 Orvie Lee married Bonnie Parr, They lived in Texas City and Brenham, Tx. During the 10 years that they were married they were blessed with two children, Cynthia and Doyle Wayne.

Lee worked on automobiles his entire life. Upon returning from the army, Lee worked at the Washington County Motor Company. He also went to school in Houston to learn about air conditioner systems in vehicles and was the first person in Washington County Texas to install an air conditioner into a vehicle. Lee also worked at Tielke garage and at night after doing his day job he would work on case tractors for people.

Lee's expertise at automotive bodywork was self taught from courses he took through Ward Automotive. It was then that he and his friend Bill Schram opened the Auto barn. Lee worked on so many Volkswagens at the auto barn that he could pull an engine out and put it back in 11 minutes. It was at the Auto barn where Lee met his second wife LaVonne. She took her car in to get service and the attraction was instant. Lee asked her to go out to eat and they were never apart for the next 42 years. Lee and LaVonne were married in June 1979. In 2007 as they were aging, they moved to North Zulch, Tx to live near one of Lavonne's daughters, and this is where they would live until her death and where Lee has lived until now.

Lee is survived by his daughter Cindy (Lupe) Ybarra of Navasota, Tx, son Wayne (Pam)Luedemann of Georgia, step daughters DJ Broussard of Houston & Renee (Fred)Stevens of North Zulch. 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was loved dearly by all of his family.

Renee & Fred of North Zulch have lovingly been Lees caretakers throughout his illnesses.

Lee was predeceased by his wife of 42 years Lavonne, stepdaughter Nita Lawrence and Son-in-Law Ray Broussard.

A visitation for Lee will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 10 AM until 11 AM at Memorial Oaks Chapel located at 1306 West Main St., Brenham, TX a funeral service will follow beginning at 11am.
