St. George, Utah – Orville Patrick Fisher, 78, passed away October 6, 2022, in St. George, Utah. He was born March 17, 1944, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Jessie Anna Louise Rice and Albert Charles Fisher. He married Karen Anita Bodily for eternity on October 24, 1969, in the Manti Temple.
Orville was raised in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. He went to school there from K-12 grade. Due to his basketball skills, he was asked to come and play for the University of Saskatchewan in the province of Saskatchewan. He played there one year and then had the opportunity to play for BYU from 1964-1968. During that time, he went with the BYU team and toured all over South America playing against teams down there. After he received his bachelor's degree from BYU, he continued his education there and received his master's degree in 1970.
He became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints within a few months of arriving at BYU on December 12, 1964. Later in life he and his wife went on two full time missions. The first to Vermont in 2011-2012 to the Joseph Smith Memorial and then to Park City at the Family Tree on old main street, where they helped hundreds of people from all over the world find their ancestors.
Orville was a teacher for two years in his hometown in Canada and for six years in Fremont, California. In 1978 he went back to school to become a chiropractor.
He lived in Canada; Fremont, Napa Valley, and Vacaville, California; Provo and St. George, Utah. He loved being a cowboy. Roger was his best horse. He was a team roper in the Rodeos. He also liked to make things out of wood and metal.
Orville understood the Plan of Salvation and he was ready to pass on to the other side. He looked forward to seeing his parents again, especially his mom whom he hasn't seen since he was 10 years old. He passed with a strong testimony of Jesus Christ knowing he is the son of our living Father in Heaven and the Redeemer of all mankind.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; their six boys: Todd (Lisa), Dan (Shari), Rob (Shelby), Bart (Deni), Scott (Becky), Paul (Makayla); 22 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Neil; and two nephews.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.

I just learned of Orville´s passing. I just wanted to express my condolences to you and your family. He was a dear friend and I have cherished the memories of our friendship while at BYU. He always expressed his deep desire to be strong in his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was continually learning the doctrine. He was funny and talented and very kind. His goodness will be remembered. Leilani Johnson

My old dear friend. I tried to phone you today. All numbers were discontinued. The obituaries said you passed away. Must have been shortly after we had last talked. We shared a life most are unaware of. We were more family than friends. I will forever regret not being there for you in your time of need. Love you old friend. Rest In Peace.
