Orville (BOB) Guyette, April 28, 1948 (that’s me, by the way) finally won the battle with soft tissue sarcoma. And yes, I won! I’ve been fighting it since 2010. I won because I’m no longer in pain. I’m resting comfortably in the loving arms of Jesus Christ my savior. Though my body has ceased to function, my spirit is as alive as it’s ever been. So, don’t mourn. My life verse is 2 Corinthians 5, verse 8 “Now we are confident and are pleased rather to be absent out of the body, and to be at home with the Lord.”
Longtime preacher of the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ, Dr. J. Vernon McGee always closed his broadcasts with this: “May God richly bless you, my beloved.” That is my wish for all who read this.
Bob Guyette, age 76 of Little Suamico, passed away at home on 12/4/24.
Bob was born in Appleton to Helen and Stanley. He graduated from Bayport High School and earned his bachelor’s degree at California State University Stanislaus and earned his master’s degree from UWGB. He served in four branches of the military and retired as a sergeant with E4 rank. Bob also enjoyed many varied careers including taxi driver, motivational speaker, pastor and adult student advisor. It was while working at UWGB that he met the love of his life, Rhonda. They married on May 29.1996.
Bob is survived by wife Rhonda, sons Matt (Julie), Doug (Jackie), bonus daughter Valerie (Chris) Brooks, and bonus daughter Carolyn VanDyke. Grandchildren Mitchell, Miles, Jacob, Marissa, Riley, Kaitlin and Dylan. He is further survived by his sister Barb, brother Larry, friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Ron and Gary.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice care and Pastor Nehs and the Bridge Point Church family for their kindness during Bob’s illness.
Because he chose a Celebration of Life on November 8th, there will be no memorial service.
