Denise Marie Hartung

Denise Marie Hartung, 64, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. She was born in Long Island, NY on December 5, 1960, daughter to the late Harvey Edward Hartung and Maria Martinez Fielder.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.
Denise grew up in Long Island, NY and graduated from Bayport-Blue Point High School in Suffolk County in June 1980. While she was in high school, she also attended a vocational school studying to be a nurse and gaining credits. Upon graduation, she studied the LPN Nursing Program at Bates Technical College where she received her certification as a License Practical Nurse, following in the footsteps of her mother. Denise then joined the United States Army. Upon discharge, Denise continued to utilize her skills as a nurse and ultimately was employed by Quality Health Care Services where she was loved by both her co-workers and her patients.
Denise enjoyed time with her family, taking vacations and going on cruises. She was an animal lover and adored her two Chihuahua dogs. Her battle with serious medical issues in recent months showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile and very positive attitude. Despite everything, Denise came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. Her love of life didn't come to an end with her death. She reached out to many family members and loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Denise is survived by her three children, Darrel Bartholomew, Michele Wagner and spouse Justin, Jenifer Ailes; two brothers, William "Billy" Hartung, Andre Fieschel and spouse Vicky; sister, Michele Mikuta and spouse Gregg; and six grandchildren, Daniel, Jesse, Angel, Isabella, Collin, and Lilly.
