Otis Eugene Howard, age 69, suddenly passed away on August 18, 2024, in New Orleans, LA. He was born May 10, 1955, to Ruby P. Howard and Grover Howard. He was the father of Cege Brumfield and Natasha Gibson.
Otis was educated in the public schools of New Orleans and graduated from Baker High School in Baker, LA. In 1975, he joined the Army and worked as a Radio Tele/Tech Operator until being honorably discharged in 1978.
Professionally, Otis was a construction worker and cab driver. He learned the ropes of his trade from his father, 'Poppa,' and often worked in the construction industry with his father and brothers.
Otis was part of a large, blended family. He leaves to mourn his passing: daughters, Cege Brumfield and Natasha Gibson; brothers, Grover, Perry (Jean), Lee (Warnetta), and Frederick "Rickey" Howard; sisters, Deborah Howard Williams, Jackie Maloise Howard, and Irma Marie Howard; stepmother, Leontine Howard; sister-in-law, Patrice Jenkins; 7 grandchildren; 8 stepsisters; 4 stepbrothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby P. Howard and Grover Howard; brothers, Don G. Howard, Thomas Jenkins Jr., Hiram James Jenkins, and Frank Henry Jenkins; nephew, Joshua P. Williams; stepmothers, Marion Johnson and Melba Pearson; and stepbrother, Robert Pearson.
A graveside service will be held at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana 70460.
Date and time to be determined. A reception will immediately follow the graveside service.
