Otto Edward Waclawczyk of Cestohowa, Texas passed away December 26, 2023, at the age of 91. He was born to Mary Lee (Dziuk) and William (Willie) Waclawczyk on December 2, 1932.
On October 18, 1958, Otto married Gladys Jendrusch. They were blessed with four children, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. They were lovingly known as Grandpa Otto and Grandma Gladys. This year they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Otto is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Frank, his sisters, Magdalene Urbanczyk, Emma Opiela, Susie Skloss, Sister Estelle Waclawczyk, brothers-in law, Domin Opiela, Elias Urbanczyk, and Emil Skloss.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys, and children Kathy (Chuck) Balser, Alan (Nancy) Waclawczyk, Sandra (John) Moczygemba, and Gerry {Michelle) Waclawczyk; his seven grandchildren, Christopher (Ashli) Balser, Jillian Balser, Danielle {Jonathan) Wiatrek, Cory Moczygemba and fiance Andie Davita, Clay (Callie) Moczygemba, Amanda {Jason) Staudt, and Tommy (Nicki) Waclawczyk.
Otto's great grandchildren are Owen and Liam Balser, Jayde and Brynn Wiatrek, and Conrad, Nigel, Vivian, and Edwin Staudt.
Otto was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church as well as a member of The Cestohowa's Men Club. For over 30 years Otto and Gladys managed the Cestohowa Community Hall.
Otto began his career working at Colonial Bakery in San Antonio. He moved back to Cestohowa to help his father with the family farm. He was an avid gardener, farmer, and rancher. Otto worked many years for Wilson County in road maintenance and repair.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, followed by a rosary at 6:30 p.m. at the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Cestohowa. The funeral mass is set to take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, also at the church. Interment will take place after the mass at the Cestohowa Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Christopher Balser, Jonathan Wiatrek, Cory Moczygemba, Clay Moczygemba, Jason Staudt and Tommy Waclawczyk.
Otto spent the last two years at John Paul II Nursing Home with Gladys. He was always focused on her well-being. The family would like to thank the Seraphic Sisters, the Catechectical Sisters of Arogyamatha, nurses and staff for their considerate and compassionate care.
