Pamela Brugger Obituary
Pamela Lynn "Pam" Brugger, nee Hummel, a beacon of warmth and love, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, in Oak Lawn, Illinois after battling cancer for over seven years. Born to Norma and Bernard Hummel on January 31, 1959, Pam often said her goal in life was to make as many people smile as possible; and that, she did.
Pam's journey began in Chicago, where she grew up as the youngest sister of Debra, Roxane and Sandra. Her childhood was filled with the simple joys, which laid the foundation for her loving spirit. As the baby of the family, she was used to being spoiled and loved on. After graduating from Morgan Park High School in 1977, Pam went on to work at Illinois Bell for many years before becoming a homemaker and eventually returning to work as a supervisor for CVS.
It was in 1978 that Pam met the love of her life and soul mate, Gene Brugger, after being introduced by her sister, Debbie. Won over by his good looks, kind soul and sense of humor, Pam and Gene were married at St. Cajetan Church in Chicago on December 20, 1980. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and devotion as they took their vows to heart, standing by each other for better or for worse, through sickness and in health for over 43 years. In these 43 years, Pam and Gene were blessed with and raised together three children-Nicole, Gene Jr. and Kristina. They also welcomed two grandchildren-Liam and Abigail, all of whom were the light of Pam's life.
Her husband and children will forever cherish and miss Pam's laugh, encouraging words, warm hugs and beautiful smile. Pam's love of God, her husband's cooking, music, Beanie Babies, and her "Kreative Touch" making jewelry will forever be remembered.
Predeceased by her parents, Norma A. Hummel nee Gossmeyer and Bernard F. Hummel; in-laws Raymond F. Brugger and Jean A. Brugger nee Wasylko; her sister Debra J Schultz nee Hummel; niece Brandi Hanton nee Schultz; and nephew Charles Boatman III. Pam's memory will forever be honored by her devoted husband Gene; her children, Nikki, Gene and Nina; and her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as Mammy, Liam and Abie. Pam is also survived and will be fondly remembered by her sisters, Roxie Boatman and Sandie (Bruce) Swedberg; many cherished nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; cousins; and a community of friends whom she loved so dearly.
