Pamela Lawrence Knopp, affectionately known to all as Pam, was a beacon of love and joy whose life was as vibrant and beautiful as the hummingbirds she so adored. Born on December 17, 1960, in Ocala, Florida, Pam's journey through life was one of passion, creativity, and unwavering faith. Her earthly chapter concluded on September 6, 2024, in Mustang Ridge, Texas, but the legacy she leaves behind is as enduring as the countless memories she created.
Pam's journey through education began at Sidney Lanier High School in Austin, Texas, where she graduated in the class of 1979. Her creative spirit led her to graduate from Cosmetology school in 1980, where she honed her skills not only for her clients but often delighted in experimenting with her own style. However, her path took a turn when she began working for the State of Texas Highway Department. Her dedication and work ethic were evident as she ascended to the role of Executive Secretary for state officials, leaving her mark in various departments, including ORCA. She retired after 30 years with the State of Texas before the age of 50, and has been enjoying retirement ever since.
After high school Pam married Gary Lawrence. During her marriage to Gary, Pam gave birth to their son, Kevin Lee Lawrence, in 1983. Unfortunately, the marriage ended, and Pam spent a few years as a single mom before meeting Casey Knopp. However, Pamela and Gary continued to have a friendly relationship, and they were able to co-parent Kevin. Pam's heart was a wellspring of love, which she poured out generously to her family. She shared a beautiful marriage with her husband, Casey Owen Knopp, whom she married in March of 1994 in Austin, Texas. Together, they built a life full of laughter, adventure, and mutual support. Together they were able to successfully blend her family with Casey's family. Pam's pride and joy were her children, Kevin Lee Lawrence, his wife Emily, and her step-children, Kyle Garrett Knopp, and his wife Elena, and Megan Elise Knopp Cano, and her husband Gabe, whom she embraced with open arms and an open heart. Her granddaughter Lily Rose brought a sparkle to her eye and a skip to her step, and her wiener dog, Brandy, was her constant and loyal companion.
Her siblings, Teri Leigh Grim and Vernon Eugene Smith Jr., affectionately known as "Skip," along with her niece, Nicole Elisabeth Grim, were an integral part of her support network, sharing in both life's trials and celebrations.
Her interests were as colorful and diverse as the scrapbooks she meticulously curated. Pam found solace and strength in Bible studies and reveled in the fellowship of church retreats. She recently was involved in card making team at Hays Hills Baptist Church, bringing solace and joy to those she touched. Her artistic eye shone through in her love for photography, and she could often be found swaying to the rhythm of music at concerts or dancing the night away. Traveling with Casey was one of her greatest joys, with Hawaii holding a special place in her heart, and cruising became a cherished pastime. Casey and Pam celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this year with a trip to Hawaii and an Alaskan cruise.
Pam's love for the beach was only matched by her affection for nature's wonders - from owls and turtles to dragonflies and butterflies. She embodied the spirit of service, dedicating her time to her church and helping others. The Woman of Faith retreats were a source of inspiration and strength for her, and her social calendar was never too full to include a game of cards with friends or a lively bunco group.
Her enthusiasm for life extended to the rodeo and country music, and she cherished moments spent babysitting her beloved Lily. Pam's life was a testament to the power of love and the beauty of faith. She was faith-filled, creative, and loving - words that only begin to scratch the surface of her incredible spirit.
Let us remember Pam as a guiding star, one whose light continues to shine in the hearts of those she touched. Her story inspires us to embrace every moment with love, to dance through life's challenges, and to find joy in the simple pleasures. Her memory urges us to serve with a glad heart, to treasure our loved ones, and to live a life rich in faith and friendship.
Pamela Lawrence Knopp's life was not just a journey but a dance - a dance of joy, creativity, and love that enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of sharing in her song. May we all carry forward her legacy of love, living each day with the same zest and compassion that she did. Pam's spirit lives on, not just as a whisper on the wind but as a resounding call to live fully, love deeply, and laugh often.

Pam (and Casey) our first "real" neighbors in Buda. We bought our first house and ended up next door to, as my son stated, "the nicest people ever". Pam will forever remain in our family memories sharing special events as my children and family grew. I remember she kept her house neat and tidy with nice things displayed and I would be thinking , please kids don“t touch anything! She always loved having the kids around. The funniest memory was when Pam and Casey took the boys to the drive through Zoo and how much they were all laughing about the animals sticking their heads in the car windows to get the food! I know there are pictures somewhere! Pam was part of our family and she will be missed. Sending our sincere condolences to Casey, her family and friends. Love, Gina, Lane, Joseph, Brooke and Lauren
