Patricia Virginia "Pat" Egana, a shining example of selflessness, love, and unwavering dedication, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on October 25, 1952, Pat was the beloved daughter of the late Myrtle Smith and Joseph Egana Jr. She grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life, even during its most difficult seasons. Her infectious laughter, caring nature, and ability to turn any moment into a cherished memory made her a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Pat graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1970, where she excelled and built lifelong friendships. A hardworking and ambitious individual, she was dedicated to her family and had a passion that left a lasting impact on everyone around her. Pat's life was a beautiful testament to the power of love, family, and steadfast devotion. As a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, she embodied loyalty, kindness, and respect, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was a steady presence through every triumph and challenge, offering comfort, laughter, and wisdom that bound her family together. As a mother, Pat poured her heart into nurturing her children, giving them a strong foundation based on unconditional love, encouragement, and guidance. She celebrated their accomplishments, supported them through hardships, and taught them the values of perseverance and compassion. Her home was a haven of warmth and acceptance, where all who entered felt welcomed and cared for. Becoming a grandmother filled Pat's heart with immeasurable joy. She delighted in every milestone and cherished every moment with her grandchildren, from dance-offs to shared meals and quiet conversations, creating memories they will carry for a lifetime. Through her example, they learned what it means to live with grace, generosity, and an open heart. Pat's legacy will forever be cherished by all who were privileged to love and be loved by her. She leaves behind her devoted children: Tanya Gordy Grant (Harold), Dereck Gordy Sr. (Tequilla), Kevin Egana Sr., Brian Egana (Diedre), and Patrice Kelly (Derin). Pat also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Antione Egana (Sylvia) and Gregory Egana. Her legacy lives on in her 19 grandchildren: Brittiany, Brandon, Derrick, Tandreckia, Keith, Dereck Jr., Tashana, Christian, Nakai, Kyren, Kayla, Kevin Jr., Ke'sean, Bria, Gabrielle, Brian II, Ron'tae, Paris, and Tre, along with 7 great-grandchildren: Dwayne III, Bailey, Brooklyn, Brandon Jr., Brionna, Bella, and Malayah who brought endless pride and joy to her life. She will also be lovingly remembered by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and love. Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Smith, her father, Joseph Egana Jr., her companion, Frank Gordy Jr., her brothers, Emile and Gilbert Egana, and her stepfather, Andrew Smith. Though she will be deeply missed, the warmth of her spirit will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70125 on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 1:00pm. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm. Internment: Holt Cemetery, 527 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70119. Arrangements by D. W. Rhodes Funeral Home, New Orleans, LA. In memory of Pat. I went to McCarthy Elementary School in New Orleans and George Washington Carver Senior High School which we graduated together. Patricia was always kind and very caring she was a friend. It was a plus because after finding out Pat mother and my aunt Louise work together we truly were friends. After moving away from New Orleans I often thought of my classmates. Rest well my friend. Carol Hubbard Murrieta, CA.

To know her was to love her. Those times that we spent as neighbors will be a forever memory for me. There´s nothing like a mother´s love. My condolences to the family.
