Patricia L. Hogue

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Patricia L. "Patti" Hogue, who departed this life peacefully at her home on October 1, at the age of 88. Patti passed, surrounded by her family, under the compassionate care of Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley. Patti was a cherished Wife and Mother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born on September 16, 1937, in Gouverneur, NY, Patti was the beloved child of the late Albert and Laurel (Jobin) Towne. Patti grew up in Balmat, NY. Patti graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1955. On August 27, 1957, she married Charles Hogue.
Patti is survived by her daughters, Lynne (Stan) Sadlowski of Pittsfield, MA and Beth Hogue of Watertown, NY; grandchildren Andrew J (Mary) Guntlow, Casey E (Matthew) England; great grandchildren, Lydia and Charlie, and many extended family members. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hogue, who passed only months before her, and a brother, Kenneth Towne.
Patti worked as a legal secretary for various Law Offices in Gouverneur, eventually finding a 'work home' for Atty. Charles Gardner. Patti volunteered at St. James School in various capacities; teaching CCD classes, serving as Room Mother for one or both of her daughter's classes many times over. Patti volunteered her time on both Church and School fund raising efforts, many years helping organize and work the cake and ice cream tent at the annual St. James Summer Social. She also took her turns helping clean St. James Church alongside many of the Country Club Road ladies. After retiring, she helped Charlie with various home and gardening projects. Together, they took trips to visit their grandchildren in Massachusetts and family in Georgia and Florida.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church Saturday October 11 at 10:00 am, with Father Jay Seymour officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, 33 Park St., Gouverneur, NY.
