Born Patricia Gail Stokely to Edwin and Wilma ("Rusty") Stokely in Johnson City, TN, Pat-beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, Jan 25th. While she spent her formative years in Oak Ridge, her college education was completed at Memphis State. In 1967 she married her husband, Richard G. Krogmann, a candidate for parish ministry in the Evengelical Lutheran Church in America. Together, their ministry took them to North and South Carolina, and from there, they served congregations in Louisiana, Florida, and New York before returning to Maryville in retirement.
Pat was known for her feisty spirit, quick wit and great golf game. In retirement at St. John's Lutheran Knoxville, her contributions as a member of the Congregation's choir, her service as a Stephen Ministry Member and Leader, her culinary creations as a team-member with Tender Lovin' Cookin' (TLC), and her leadership as Personnel Team Co-Leader were cherished gifts.
Perhaps her most enduring legacy will be her devotion to family: husband, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and an ever-expanding circle of friends and ministry partners. Pat never met a stranger, largely because she had a knack for getting to the heart of the conversation early in any relationship. Her direct honesty was an open invitation to folks for authentic conversation about things that mattered to them: their hurts, needs, hopes and struggles.
Pat is survived by her husband of more than 57 years, Dick, children Scott and his wife, Monica, and Audra and her husband Romain; her three grandchildren, brothers John and David Stokely, and sister Susan Stokely.
A Worship Service to celebrate Pat's life and Faith will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 544 N. Broadway, Knoxville 37917 at 11:30am on Friday, January 31st. Visitation, at 10am, will precede Worship.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Memorial Fund of St. John's Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rosefuneraltn.com.
