Patrick Joseph Hartung Sr., Born December 29th, 1950, peacefully went to live with his Lord on the morning of Monday, October 28th at the age of 73, after a courageous 22-year battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Delores “Dolly” Marilyn Young & John Joseph “Joe” Hartung.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Deborah Hartung; son, Patrick Hartung Jr; younger sister, Becky Sahr; and younger brother, John Hartung. Patrick graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in 1969, but always considered himself a South High Alumni. Go South! After High School Patrick became an electrician and joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBEW local 683. He maintained a tight relationship with his union brothers until his passing.
He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, gardening, and taking care of his lawn. He enjoyed time spent on the many beautiful lakes of the Midwest fishing, as well as trips west to hunt for deer and elk with his friends and family. As a loving father he shared his lifelong interest in sports and fitness with his son Patrick Jr. with whom he spent countless hours working out, practicing baseball or running track. He grew many friendships as a member of the Grove City YMCA and planet fitness.
He will be remembered as a jovial face and neighbor willing to lend a hand to those in need. We know that he has affected many people and would like to thank everyone who has been a part of his life.
Please celebrate with us at Newcomer Columbus 3393 Broadway on Saturday, November 9th beginning at 12pm with a ceremony by Pastor Robert Baker at 2pm.
