Patty Lou (Mansfield) Dick
January 8th 1948 - July 13th 2023
Patty Lou Dick, 75, of Independence, Kansas passed away in the presence of family on Thursday, July 13th, at Ascension St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, OK.
Patty was born on January 8th to Bernard Eldon and Sarah Maxine (Claxton) Mansfield in Pittsburg, KS. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in McCune. In 1966 Patty graduated from Labette County High School and started her banking career in Pittsburg, KS at The National Bank.
On November 22nd 1969, Patty and Melvin were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parsons, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Wichita, KS. In 1974, they settled in Independence, KS where she continued her career at 1st Federal Savings and Loan, retiring in 2013.
Patty was the mother of 4, Grandmother of 7 and Great Grandmother of 1. She enjoyed spending time with family, and always had a camera in her hand. Some of her favorite activities were spending time at the lake, planting flowers, shopping, and her Coca Cola collection. She also enjoyed spending time with her Beta Sigma Phi friends and her annual trips with the Girls of 66 classmates. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Alter Society, a past Park Board member, and enjoyed getting involved with Neewollah activities.
She is survived by her husband Melvin of 53 years. Children Jason Dick, Stacy Gertner (Van), Joshua Dick (Opal Brown), and Jacob Dick. Grandchildren Corbin Dick (Ashley Walrath), Angela Baker (Cash), Brett Dick-Wolfe, Chloe Gertner, Ember Gertner, Colton Dick, and Alex Dick, Great-Grandson Boone Baker, Brother James Mansfield (Elsa)
She is preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Max and Joe Mansfield, and sister Sally McKinzie (Ron). The family has entrusted Potts Chapel with arrangements.
