Patty Sue Nichols Reents, 87, of Litchfield, passed away February 6, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was born on March 31, 1936, in Hillsboro, Illinois. Her parents were Don and Juanita (Mobley) Nichols.
She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1954 and attended SIU Carbondale. Patty also obtained her associates degree at Christ For the Nations Institute (CFNI) in Dallas, TX.
Patty taught at the elementary school at St. Mary's Catholic Church for several years and she was most proud to be a homemaker.
She married Dr. Harold L. "Diz" Reents on December 31, 1955; he preceded her in death on November 17, 2020.
Countless people have considered Patty and Diz as "spiritual parents" and mentors- from their family to individuals worldwide. They wanted to help foreign students start Bible colleges in their home countries. This led to them assisting the start of Bible colleges in Asia, Australia, and Africa.
She is survived by five children Mike (Marianne) Reents of Spokane WA; Tim (Cindy) Reents of Litchfield, Beth (Olda) Hetych of Owosso, MI, Laura Coates of Saginaw, TX; Chris (Kevin) Kelley of Granbury, TX. She had 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Diz, and a sister Kay Smith.
A memorial service will be held at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 4:00 PM. Visitation will follow until 8:00 PM.
Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery in Litchfield.
Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
