Paul McFerran Barr

Paul McFerran Barr, 33, passed away in Louisville, Kentucky on January 16th, 2025. He grew up in Louisville, where he was known for his sense of humor and creativity.From a young age, Paul excelled in extracurricular activities. He was a 2010 graduate of Trinity High School where he received his senior class creative writing award, reflecting his gift for storytelling and his deep ability to connect with others through words. He attended Indiana University Southeast on a partial academic scholarship. He subsequently left higher education to pursue a career in the construction industry.He was a youth in Boy Scout Troop 243, an Eagle Scout with two silver palms, and a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow. He demonstrated leadership, dedication, and a passion for helping others. He also received the Ad Altare Dei, the Pope Pius X and the Venturing Ranger awards.Paul faced significant challenges in his life, but those who knew him remembered his fierce determination to overcome them. He carried an adventurous spirit and a kind heart, bringing joy to those around him even during difficult times. His resilience and courage left an indelible mark on everyone who loved him.He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha (Marla) Dent Barr.Paul is survived by his loving father, John McFerran (Mac) Barr, II, who supported him unconditionally and his siblings: Alexandra Ortiz (Isaac), David Bowling (Emily), Bernie Bowling, and Sophie Bowling.His Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am Thursday, January 23rd, 2025 at St Leonard Catholic Church, 440 Zorn Avenue, followed by the burial at Cave Hill Cemetery.Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 at Pearsons, 149 Breckenridge Lane.
