Paul Griggs

Paul Omer Griggs, 73, husband of Janice Berry Griggs, died Thursday, August 14, 2025, at home. Born in Morganfield, KY, on July 22, 1952, he was the son of William Thomas Griggs, Sr., and Jane Seton Omer Griggs. He was a graduate of Union County High School in Morganfield and attended the University of Kentucky and Murray State University, where he was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Order. Paul was a long-standing member of the United Methodist Church of Morganfield.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janice; his two daughters, Jill Griggs (Tom) Underwood and Sarah Jane Griggs Giffin; and grandchildren Thomas Griggs Underwood, Ridley Grace Underwood, Tynsley Jane Giffin, and Jackson Matthew Giffin. He was an uncle and brother-in-law to many beloved family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Tom Griggs.

Paul had a long and successful career in the construction industry with several great companies, including Griggs Construction, Spaw Glass Constructors, Texas Trident, The Garney Co., MB Kahn Construction, Whiting-Turner Contracting, Hoar Construction, and H&N Construction. He traveled extensively for work, living around the Southeast before moving back to his hometown of Morganfield.

There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2025, at the United Methodist Church of Morganfield. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m., led by Pastor Sarah Kate Cox. All are invited to a lunch at the church.
