On April 12, 1958, Don married the love of his life, Mary Sue Kolb, in a ceremony at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons, Kansas. Together they built a beautiful life in Cherryvale.

He is survived by his wife Sue of the home, son, Steve (Lisa) Johnston of Cherryvale, Kansas, grandson, Joseph (Amy) Johnston of Thayer, Kansas, great-grandchildren Gus, Ivy, Kati, and Jay into the family, who were a source of immense pride and happiness for him.

Don had a passion for car sales, a hobby that brought him much enjoyment over the years. His enthusiasm for life and connection with those around him will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A graveside service to honor Don's life will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Fairview Cemetery located on North Olive Street in Cherryvale, Kansas, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects.

As we remember Don, we celebrate a life well-lived, a spirit that touched many, and a legacy of love and devotion to family. His memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of those who knew him.
