Paul S. Lafata

Paul, age 76, was born November 5, 1948, in Detroit, MI, son of Paul Lafata and Mary (Alongi). He grew up in St. Clair Shores, frequenting the neighborhood baseball diamond. He graduated from Austin Catholic Preparatory School. Paul served in the army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970, followed by four years in the reserves. Enjoying one of his favorite pastimes, boating, Paul met Mary Gregor at Lake St. Clair Metropolitan Beach. The two married on October 5, 1985, at San Francesco Catholic Church. Together, they raised three children. Paul was always devoted to supporting their activities, especially cheering on the sidelines of countless soccer games. Paul was a skilled craftsman with a fix-it-yourself attitude. A proud and loving father, family was of the utmost importance to him, hosting dinner every Sunday, showcasing his culinary skills. He worked as a project manager in the automotive industry for 30 years. After retirement, Paul served as the Chesterfield Township Treasurer from 2016-2020 and remained an active member of the community in the following years. He is survived by his loving wife Mary, his three children Amanda (Neil) Kocan, Paul Lafata, and Marissa Lafata, and his younger sister, Bernadette (Robert) Willaert. Visitation for Paul will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary, Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel located at 35259-23 Mile Road in New Baltimore. Paul will lie instate from 8:30 a.m. until a 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at St. Peter Catholic Church located at 95 Market Street in Mt. Clemens.
